 I have now worked out the core base mechanic for task resolution for my new RPG.  Moving on to the health based system for the game.  I am going with the working title of SHARP EDGES for now and will try to firm that up as well.  So far';

PBTA base dice mechanic.  Characters will have a core Descriptor to give them an overall flavor for their character.  Five Attributes plus skills.  I have worked out the advancement system for both.

Unlike PBTA this game will not dictate 'Moves' for the players, rather the GM will dictate when dice are to be rolled and what Attribute/Skill combo will modify the roll.  Similar to Traveler and Stars without Number.

Stay tuned for more info.

Going to start working on a new RPG using the core PBTA dice mechanic.  Mix this in with some Fate concepts and fixed damage.  The key is to create a player facing game that is fast moving and requires very little prep.  Random tables will be key to help keep the game moving.

Watching a little Runehammer and his recent youtube segment regarding Mandojammer.  To much do we as GM's focus on the trip, the movement from location to location, rather then getting stuck right in to the action of the scene.  Action does not necessarily indicate combat, but more the crux of what the PC's are attempting to resolve.

More to come as I flesh out the body.  Any Planet is Earth by Jim Parkin as well as concepts from Star Wars Ultralight led me to this concept.

Sorry there was no game on Friday night, one of the three players had an incident just before the game and had to bow out.  This game will not run if any one of the three players cannot make it.  With such a small group it is good not to progress your story unless you are in a true between zone in the pace of the campaign.  This was not the case.  The last game left a great deal of items hanging on a thread, so it would not have been wise to move forward without everyone's input.

We will be back with the Grognard game on the 25th.  The Youngling game will continue this Friday.

Session four of the Stars Without Number Youngling campaign has just completed.  A lot of information was downloaded to the players and they have tasted a part of some larger plot.  What will they do with this information.

Getting better at running the system and understanding the core mechanics.  The more I read, I realize that I should have made the sector more dystopian, but the 600 year time frame since the Scream really throws me off.  It should have been more like 100 years, then I could justify having everything in a state of recovery, 600 years is more than enough time to have whole systems of government in place and running smoothly.

But war has reached the sector and will play in the background.  The result was left to the fate of the dice and Tulmanoides was able to fend off the Yeliacracy.  What will the next move be.

See you all in two weeks for more action.

I just submitted my event for Bride of Cyclops Con, the DCC online convention taking place October 16-18, 2020.  I plan to run the zero level funnel for Star Crawl.  I have created my Zoom meeting, now I need to work on the Roll20 page.  Stay tuned for more info if you are planning to join me for this adventure.

If possible I will try to have players meet prior to the con, so we can work out any audio or video bugs that they may have with zoom and Roll20.  As well as roll up their four zero level characters.

If not possible, I will be opening up my Zoom meet for this slot one hour early.  This should allow me to make any adjustments prior to the slot start.

I will be live streaming this adventure on my twitch channel as well.  I have chosen Slot K, which is 6p-10p Eastern/3p-7p Pacific time.

Session 5 of the Stars Without Number Grognard went off well tonight.  The crew was able to bypass the unknown security field surrounding the Artifact that they were hired to collect without suffering any ill effects.  They later find out that they may have lifted the perpetual psychic storms that have plagued that region.

They were also able to survive the double cross by their customer in the middle of the waste.  Destroying a mercenary helicopter and fighting off three heavily armored mercs.  They captured Hiro Smith, who was unsuccessfully run over by Jax in their ATV.  He offered them an additional 200K credits on top of the payment of 90K on a wafer in his pocket (the payment they were owed).  But they ultimately refused, even when he let them know, "Someone will come looking for that Artifact"

Hiro SmithWhat will the crew do next adventure, as we leave them entering the outskirts of Capitol on Nion 6KE.

Welcome to the start of my blog page, which will cover my continuing journey as a DM, GM, Judge, or whatever name you use for someone who organizes and runs Role Playing Games.

I originally created this page in order to track my progress on a miniature and RP game for a steampunk-esque concept.  But that has since fallen to the wayside.  I have a very demanding full time job that does not afford me the luxury to follow my dreams.  Let this be a warning to you all.  Do not let the temptation of a secure job rob you of your dreams.  Stick with it.  It may not pay as much and will leave you in a constant state of panic, but you will enjoy every minute of your life.

I regularly stream my game on Twitch, even some of my computer gaming.  I will try to begin posting games on YouTube, but that is still in the works.  I have almost ironed out all of the technical glitches around streaming so that I present a more polished product.

Thanks for checking in, I should start posting on a regular basis.
