 Continuing with my planning for gaming moving forward, my office in my new home is almost done so that I can focus on creativity. Soon I hope to be fully immersed in RPG's and miniature gaming once again. What I have on my creative plate so far is;

 Uncharted Worlds/Far Beyond Humanity - Star Wars like rpg base during the birth of the first republic that I will be calling 'Republics Edge'. If I can get Roll20 to cooperate, it may possibly be done online.

Old School Essentials - I plan to run a classic B/X style D&D game in the thought process of Gary Gygax and the original intent of the game. This was spurred further by the recent video put out by Questing Beast (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slBsxmHs070). This may also be in person and online as time allows. A calendar will be used!

One Page Rules - OMG! I am very much looking forward to getting back into miniature gaming, rolling the dice, pilling up the dead, crafting, painting...everything.

This is it for now. Will keep you updated as things progress.

 It has been a minute since I have updated this blog as you can see by the history.

No campaigns are currently underway.

I have just finished my move into a new house and am finally at a place to start some serious gaming again.

I have struggled with my love of PBTA or AWE based games for some time. I love how they play and the off the cuff momentum of the story that is created. But it always requires a certain level of creativity and drive on the players part to make it sing, it is not a game for a group that wants to kick in doors and kill things. I will be delving back into gaming and trying to get something going.

I will be jumping whole heartedly the Star Wars band wagon and trying my hand at creating something new with the assistance of a group that also embraces the genera. I am basing the game at the birth of the Force and the expansion of the first Galactic Federation. No Jedi, no Sith, only the Force. We will see where this goes and I will keep you updated.

I will be using the Uncharted Worlds rule set with the use of the Far Beyond Humanity supplement. Once I have nailed down the specifics, I will post my general guidelines here.

 Currently the new Traveller campaigns are going well.  Both groups have created their characters, and the Grognard group has finished their first game.  They loved it and I too found the game vastly more fulfilling to run.

The Youngling game will kick off tonight, my hope is that they will find the game just as entertaining.  I fully suspect that Robert will get his character killed post haste so that he can roll up a new one.  The character did not make it out of creation very well, but that equal parts bad rolls and Robert trying to push the system to create an older scientist type.  But we both understand that he will eventually be rolling up a new character.  The other reason he kept this character is that it was the only one out of the group that actually got a full ship (Lab) for the players.  Some others did get Ship Shares, but those are going towards modifying the ship.

I have come up with some creative solutions to modify the Lab ship from it's base design to turn it into a non-streamlined cargo vessel with labs.  They will not be able to enter atmosphere, but if there is a high port they can still ply the trade routes.

Tune in for more news as the game progresses.

I need to work on creating a youtube channel with these episodes as soon as possible to increase the interest in the game.  Hmmm.

 So I have finally pulled the trigger on Traveller.  I have always had a love of the Traveller system but have never had a consistent group that was in to Sci-Fi RPG's.  Most players default to the common Fantasy game systems.  I now have two groups that will be playing in my Traveller game on a consistent basis.

The Grognard group created characters and ship this last Saturday.  Much fun was had by all and I am looking forward to the first official game.

My Youngling group has not confirmed that the trigger will be pulled on starting the Traveller game, switching over from Stars Without Number (Traveller light, IMO).  I am hoping to get an answer from them soon, otherwise the SWN game will continue until 6/25/2021, another ten sessions.

I have set up my Roll20 page for the game and with the plethora of available content, it looks sharp.

Remember to join me on my Twitch channel (infiniteaaron) every Friday for more RPG goodness.

 And, yes, I have abandoned making my own game system.  I would rather focus on creating a good, immersive rpg game for my players, and Traveller scratches my longest running itch.

I cannot say more good things about Mongoose Traveller 2nd Ed.  Please check it out.  If you purchase the books directly from Mongoose you will also receive the PDF, free of charge.  My ADD would like it to be that they give me access to the PDF on my Drive Thru RPG account so that all of my digital content is in one place, but I will adjust.

Remember...You are never to old to game

 I have now worked out the core base mechanic for task resolution for my new RPG.  Moving on to the health based system for the game.  I am going with the working title of SHARP EDGES for now and will try to firm that up as well.  So far';

PBTA base dice mechanic.  Characters will have a core Descriptor to give them an overall flavor for their character.  Five Attributes plus skills.  I have worked out the advancement system for both.

 Unlike PBTA this game will not dictate 'Moves' for the players, rather the GM will dictate when dice are to be rolled and what Attribute/Skill combo will modify the roll.  Similar to Traveler and Stars without Number.

Stay tuned for more info.

 Going to start working on a new RPG using the core PBTA dice mechanic.  Mix this in with some Fate concepts and fixed damage.  The key is to create a player facing game that is fast moving and requires very little prep.  Random tables will be key to help keep the game moving.

Watching a little Runehammer and his recent youtube segment regarding Mandojammer.  To much do we as GM's focus on the trip, the movement from location to location, rather then getting stuck right in to the action of the scene.  Action does not necessarily indicate combat, but more the crux of what the PC's are attempting to resolve.

More to come as I flesh out the body.  Any Planet is Earth by Jim Parkin as well as concepts from Star Wars Ultralight led me to this concept.

 Sorry there was no game on Friday night, one of the three players had an incident just before the game and had to bow out.  This game will not run if any one of the three players cannot make it.  With such a small group it is good not to progress your story unless you are in a true between zone in the pace of the campaign.  This was not the case.  The last game left a great deal of items hanging on a thread, so it would not have been wise to move forward without everyone's input.

We will be back with the Grognard game on the 25th.  The Youngling game will continue this Friday.
